An artist whose vulnerability and authenticity allow her to connect meaningfully with others.
"I paint because it feels good, because I have to. My paintings are not self-portraits, but they are self-inspired. I work almost exclusively with oil paint because it doesn’t dry quickly. With oil, I have to be patient. As I push paint around on the canvas, I am working through my feelings. I can spend a long time on one area, painting and re-painting, experimenting with color, tone, contrast, composition, until I’m satisfied, or until I feel at peace. When I paint, I am in a “mindful” state, and it becomes a meditation. In the end, the paintings reflect my hopes, fears, dreams, my subconscious…my spirit. I’m drawn to symbols, ritual, and the natural world. I’m inspired by magic, myth, spirituality, and a desire to understand my place in the universe, my purpose. Even when I am not painting, I am evolving as an artist, and as a human being."
